5 Months

Whew....where does time go?  On my birthday, March 17th, Sawyer also had a milestone...he turned 5 months old!  It is so amazing to see all of the things he does at this stage.  He is what we like to call roley-poley-oley..he is so busy rolling all over the place!  He is almost sitting up by himself, and almost has the start to crawling...he gets his butt up there and shakes it and tries to move his arms...it's hilarious!  Some other milestones we have made are starting to eat solid foods (which is getting better every day) so far he has eaten peas, green beans, carrots, bananas, and the rice cereal with fruit.  He still loves to chatter and blow raspberries...he loves to talk as he gets his diaper changed.  He still has the best attitude and rarely fusses and usually only does when he is hungry.  I love to watch him smile and make him laugh...he does this all the time!  It is such a wonderful feeling to see our baby so happy...I only hope he knows how happy he makes us!
Every morning when we wait for him to wake up we are always greeted with a huge smile and his arms and legs moving around in excitement!  If he only knew that that little moment makes our whole day....gosh it's amazing!  We have gotten down a pretty good schedule in the morning and evening...he usually wakes between 6:45 and 7:00am and we feed him some cereal and then the rest of his bottle, then it's play time with the Grandma's and whatever they have planned with him that day, then when I get home again he usually has a bottle around 4:00-4:30 and we play some more...in addition to making dinner and getting my lunch packed for the next day.  At dinner time we have been putting him in his high chair and we eat, then we feed him again around 7:00...then it's bottle washing and getting them filled for the next day, cleaning up dinner and playing with little guy.  He tends to fall asleep around 8:00-8:30pm and then he gets 1 more bottle at 9:30 then back to sleep he goes until 6:45-7:00am again and then we start all over....it makes for a crazy busy time in our life right now...but we wouldn't change a thing!!!  We absolutely love the life God has given us!!

During the 5 month photo shoot...I was cracking up!  It was so hard getting Sawyer to keep from putting the 5 month sticker in his little mouth....guess it's the sign of the stage we're in...everything goes in his mouth!  So these were the only pics that I have without him eating the sticker.  Love him!!!!

Grandma's Pictures

I  LOVE having the Grandma's as Sawyer's babysitters!!!!  It's a special time that they get to be together and create forever memories!  I especially love the fact that my mom comes with her camera on her days to watch him!  Mom is always taking really cute pictures.  Here are some of the ones she has captured over the last couple of weeks....Enjoy!
He LOVES this puppy....especially because she sings to him!

I LOVE this picture...Sawyer loves to see his daddy!

Taking a nap in his crib...I love how 1 sock is on and 1 sock is off

Sound asleep.......

He managed to get himself turned around before he fell sound asleep

Frozen Coke

I have always liked frozen cokes and would get them periodically...but when I was pregnant I couldn't have any because of the caffeine (I chose not too...though you can have some caffeine each day).  For some reason it was so hard to not have any (not that I ate them all the time either) and I craved them. Ever since Sawyer was born Keith brings me home one every day (I'm sure that's a BIG reason why I can't lose all of the baby weight).  Sawyer has started to notice the large cup and is reaching for it, wipes his hand across the cup, grabs at the lid and pulls it towards his mouth even!  It's hilarious!  It's as if he wants one too!  I can't wait for the day we can sit and have a frozen coke together!

Solid Food?? Nah.....Not a fan!

So, we started the rice cereal last week and it has not been going very well!  We have tried it at least 1 time a day and twice if we get extra time....and every time ends up with the same result of throwing away almost the entire serving.   Sawyer fusses everytime we put the spoon to his mouth...he now clenches his gums together and lips closed and swings his head side to side as if he is telling us "NO!"  It is rather funny...but also frustrating because I cannot believe MY child would not like to eat!  C'mon who would guess that!  So, I went to Wal-Mart and bought rice cereal with mixed fruit as well as some stage 1 vegetables (we plan on making his food but at this point want to find SOMETHING he will eat).
Well, we tried the rice cereal with mixed fruit at breakfast and got the same treatment.  Hmmmm....guess he doesn't like mixed fruit either.  We then tried some green beans...you guessed it...the same result. We're so dumbfounded by this because Sawyer shows all the signs of wanting to eat "real" food.  So, I suggested to Keith let's give him the spoon and see what he does with it....and guess where it ended up....yep, in HIS MOUTH!  Now, why can't we put the spoon in his mouth but he can!?  So, we put some green beans on it and handed it over!  We had a serious mess but he got more in his mouth than we did! Who knows what will happen next, I just hope he gets used to this eating solid food stuff!  The next couple of weeks shall be very interesting! Wish us luck!

Mirror...Mirror

Sawyer loves to  look at himself in the mirror...but this week he has started giving himself a kiss!  It's so cute to watch him watch himself....he is in awe of looking at himself look right back!  We had a good laugh as he was kissing the mirror while playing under his activity gym.

Bath Time = Splash Time

We have all heard the horror stories about getting babies to take their bath...well NOT Sawyer he LOVES bath time!  It has gotten funnier each and every time.  Tonight during bath time...he had splashed so much water (from kicking his legs) that Keith, the counter and the floor were soaked!  We just laughed and laughed...and Sawyer enjoyed every minute!  Keith even noticed tonight that Sawyer was taking the little toys that we use to measure the water temp and picking them up with his hands and feet and playing with them.  He cracks us up!! Enjoy the pics...wish you could see him kicking his legs!
Getting used to the water...
...
Checking everything out....

Found the octopus

Notice the drool hanging from his lip!

And he's kicking!

Notice how wet Keith's shirt is and the side of the tub!  Too funny!!

More kicking....

Mmmmmm tastes good!

Hi mom!

Cuddle time in front of the fireplace.
This is usually my job...but I had to get another towel so daddy stole my job for a minute.

First Food

Well, today was a first...we gave Sawyer a little bit of cereal to try.  He has been on breast milk only to this point...and Dr. Haidar had told us the other week that he is ready for solids.  I wasn't sure if I was excited about that or not because it meant that my little boy is growing up too fast!  Keith and I had discussed it and thought we could give it a try...after both Grandma's made the suggestion too that Sawyer is ready for the big step.  So, Keith got the high chair out and put it together and attached it to one of our chairs and we were ready.  All we had to do was mix 1 Tlbs. of rice cereal to 5 Tlbs. warm milk...this created a consistency I thought was too runny...it was like soup!  But, we did what the directions said.  I put Sawyer in his high chair and that process was pretty smooth, then daddy came in with the cereal.  Remember, we are EXTREME newbies when it comes to this stuff...Keith started giving Sawyer the cereal and immediately Sawyer started to gag!!     Oh my, did this ever scare me!  But Keith and Grandma (who came over to help if we needed) assured me he was ok.  After several spoonfuls, Keith told me to try it.  I was so scared!  Why? Because I was so afraid of his choking... even though it looked like soup it still had a slightly different texture and then throw in the use of the spoon.  He was hilarious...he would gag before the spoon even got to his mouth!  Grandma Joyce then showed us how to let Sawyer suck off the spoon and get a better understanding of this new experience.  She was very helpful in showing how to put the spoon in his mouth and holding his hands back...he's always trying to be such a little helper.  Overall, the experience wasn't too bad...and I'm sure will get easier as he gets used to the different textures.
Open up....here comes the first bite!

Not too shabby!

And here comes the gag  :(

Grandma took over and showed us what to do

He had saved up the last 5 or 6 bites and then spit them all back out at once...kinda funny!

Getting better!
I think we're gonna make it...wonder how tomorrow will go!
