3 Months

Where does the time go?? Sawyer has been with us for 3 months already...seems like yesterday I was feeling his little kicks inside!  I do miss those days...but so thankful that he is here!  He has certainly changed our lives...the old cliche` rings true...I can't imagine my life without him!  This month he has started laughing A LOT (its hilarious) and he also moves his eyes to follow voices and objects.  He started looking up at objects such as the moose on the wall or the ducks flying in the air, and also really focus' on the birds hanging from his mobile.  He is such a happy baby!  All the time he is ready to flash that precious smile and kick his feet and arms with that special coo sound he makes when he is happy!  He is still on an eating schedule of every 2-3 hours and sleeps through the night.  He usually falls asleep around 7:30 and we wake him around 9:30 for another bottle and then he's off to bed for the night!  He loves to play with his soft caterpillar that we call "Catti" and he grabs for it and pulls on its antennae.  For Christmas he got an activity mat from Grandpa and Grandma that he loves to lay under and grab the birds or owls or bat at them to make them fly.
We celebrated our first Valentine's Day with the love of our lives.  Keith and I have always celebrated it, but this year we agreed that Sawyer was our gift.  Though, Sawyer got mommy a dozen tulips and a beautiful card.
It's amazing how many pictures we have taken of him!  It's so easy to pull my phone out and snap a few...sad thing is I can't figure out how to get them to my computer!  :(  So, enjoy the few pics I do have.

Playing with one of his favorite toys...The singing puppy

His other favorite toy is "Catti" the caterpillar...he loves it because he can hold onto it.

Look at that smile!

Bath Time Fun

Well, those of you who know Keith you know he has to have the best of everything.  Well, when it came time to register at Babies R Us...he was so happy when he found THE BATHTUB!  He showed me what he had found and I told him he was crazy and that we were not getting that model.  I was just looking for the typical plastic tub that countless of parents have used.  Well.....Keith was adamant about that darn tub!  He said he didn't care if he had to buy it himself or not, our baby was going to have this tub!  We laughed about it...and of course he scanned it with the registry gun (against my thoughts on it of course!)  Well, Grandma Yard went out and bought it the NEXT DAY!!  So laugh as you will...we now have the super deluxe bathtub/Jacuzzi/shower combo for Sawyer!  I'm not sure who is more excited about it though...daddy or Sawyer.  Sawyer does love bath time though, which is a lot of fun!    Enjoy these pictures and laugh as much as I did...it is pretty funny!

Keith looking crazy....but loving his new toy!

Yes, it even has a shower!

Look at that little but!  He certainly didn't get that from his mommy!

Thanks for covering me up daddy!

Hmmm...Not so sure about this

Ahhhhhh.........

This is the life!

Our First Christmas

We were so excited to celebrate Christmas this year because of Sawyer's arrival~but when it came time for decorating the house (inside and out) we were NOT into it.  It was so weird..we LOVE to decorate for Christmas!  Keith decided he would rather spend time with Sawyer so he opted not to do any outside decorations and as for inside we did very little!  It was a lot harder than we thought trying to get the tree up and watch after the little guy!  Thanks to Keith's hard word he got the tree up and decorated it for us (which is a huge job since our tree is 10 1/2 feet tall!)
Christmas weekend ended up being pretty scary!  Sawyer had had his 1st round of shots earlier in the week.  He started throwing up (projectile vomiting) on Wednesday night and continued through Saturday morning (which was Christmas Eve).  Of course that threw daddy into a panic mode so he called the Dr's office...and they aren't open so the nurse on call said to take Sawyer to the ER to make sure everything was ok.   So, we spent Christmas Eve afternoon in the ER at St. V's.  The checked him out and ran some tests and said he had GERD.  Long story short...after monitoring him at home the next few days and taking him to Dr. Haider it was concluded that he had a bug of some sort...so no GERD and not a reaction to the shots.
I was so excited for our Christmas Eve service but was broken hearted when Sawyer was sick!  Keith wasn't sure if we should even go...but there was no way I wasn't going to miss our very 1st Christmas Eve service as a family!  We hurried around when we got home from the hospital and dressed him in his Christmas finest and ran off to church.  Everyone was so excited to see him!  Unfortunately, we ended up spending almost the entire service down in the basement because he was hungry and fussy..oh well....at least we were there, even if it was in the basement!
On Christmas day we were so busy getting ready in the morning to head to both Grandparents' houses that we didn't have time to open our own Christmas gifts with Sawyer!  Thank goodness we managed to get it done in the evening.  We had a great time at Grandpa and Grandma Zielinski's and of course they spoiled Sawyer with gifts!! After Grandpa and Grandma Z's we went to Grandma Yard's and had dinner with her, Uncle Paul, Aunt Marybeth, Maggie and Dan.  We won't be celebrating Christmas with that side of the family until New Years Eve.  We loved our dinner with them!   We celebrated our family Christmas the next week on the Mullen/Yard sign and had a great time!  Sawyer was such a good boy...and was passed around from one set of anxious and loving arms to the next!

2 Months

Wow...2 months already!  Where does the time go?  We have gotten into a routine of playing some fun CD's as we change him...and it seems that Sawyer LOVES to listen to music and when we sing to him.  This month Sawyer has really started to coo as we change him or play with him...it sure does make our hearts overflow even more with love!  He eats about 4oz each feeding and gets up only 1 time a night.  When we have tummy time Sawyer can lift his head up pretty good and he moves around like crazy.  It's not crawling yet but he squirms his way up the blanket.  He loves to sit in the bumbo seat, though he looks at his toys as if he wonders what to do with them.  He does like to play with the squishy, crinkly Christmas tree.
When we had his two month check up I was concerned that he wasn't on a set schedule...and Dr. Haider looked at me with a slight chuckle and said "he's the boss" and that I shouldn't worry about a schedule yet.  At this point daddy won't let Sawyer sleep in his crib yet...so he is still sleeping in the swing in our room.  Sawyer does listen to our voices and can turn his head to look at us...it's so sweet.  This month we also had our first round of shots!  Sawyer was really good at the Dr's appt. and when it came time for the shots he only cried for about 15 seconds...and mommy might have cried a little longer!  Daddy scooped Sawyer up and loved on him and Sawyer was fine a little while later.  (Ofcourse I forgot my camera on this day..I must have been REALLY nervous about the shots!)

Does this pumpkin make my but look big?

My 1st Halloween

I love to swing in my swing...and sleep too!

The 1st Month

Amazing how time has flown by!  Sawyer is a month old already (be aware I will probably post this at every month!)  Everyday Keith and I say how lucky we are to have Sawyer in our lives...and how cute he is (though we may be SLIGHTLY prejudice!)
This month we were able to spend the first 3 weeks home together as a family!  Keith took 3 weeks off work and it was wonderful to be together...learning all about our little man!  We have been learning how to feed and change him, where he likes to sleep, and most importantly how to hold him (it sounds crazy but when they are this little they have a little bobble head!)  It's amazing how quickly Sawyer was to a feeding schedule...every 2 hours flat!  If he was sleeping he would wake up exactly at the 2 hour mark.  We would joke that he has a built in Timex in that little body.  After Sawyer eats he falls asleep for a few hours.  During this time we are busy getting Thank You cards written, bottles cleaned and filled and I pump.  We have been diligently trying to get Sawyer to breastfeed but he wants nothing to do with it.  So, we have decided to pump everything and feed through the bottle.  I think this will work out great because it will give Keith and our mom's the opportunity to feed him too.  It might be double the work...but it's worth it!
We have been trying tummy time for just a couple of minutes each day....but Sawyer doesn't care too much for it.  We can tell he is a pretty strong baby by how he tries to hold his head up while on our shoulders and when he holds onto our fingers his grip is pretty tight.  Enjoy the pictures I have included for the 1st month.....
What a little BLESSING!
