What a little stinker! We try so hard to keep Sawyer away from the hearth and fireplace so we rolled a comforter up and pushed against the stone...yesterday I watched as he rolled himself over to the blanket, pull himself onto it and s-t-r-e-t-c-h to get to the ceramic duck and wooden moose! He would giggle then as he touched each one....he was trying to hard to wrap his little hands around the head so he could bring it to him. Uh-oh.....I think we need to start moving all of the objects that are at "Sawyer level"!

Fishing Fun
We spent our Memorial Day weekend at home mainly because it was so hot (it actually set a new record for how hot it was...96 degrees...broke a record from 1911!) But being at home was fun because we had a cookout with my mom & dad, Joyce, Paul, Marybeth and Dan (Maggie's boyfriend) and went fishing too! Here are some pics of Sawyer's first time fishing at our ponds....we fished at ours and Paul's. We were trying to catch the trout before they die due to the heat...we caught about 25 (still have 75 more to catch) and we also caught blue gill and crappie that we threw back. Had a blast! So did Sawyer....after a little while he was sound asleep in the stroller, so we pushed the stroller under the tree for some shade and there he laid with the breeze blowing sleeping so sweetly! Bbut ofcourse I forgot to take a picture of that...ugh!)

Naked Boy
I think it's funny how babies love to be naked!! Sawyer is no exception! He has started something new, now that he can sit up, he will NOT lay down for diaper changes on his changing table and instead he sits up and grabs for anything he can get his hands on! It has become very difficult to work with....so now we change him on the floor. As soon as the diaper is off....he reaches for his "jewels" and grabs and pinches and then he starts to roll all over. He loves to be naked!

This picture melts my heart...look at the smile! |

I love his little backside... |
Oregon Fest
We took Sawyer to the Oregon Fest a couple weekends ago to see his first parade....I hope he loves parades as much as mommy does! We were a little nervous how he would do with all of the sounds from the fire trucks and band so we didn't sit right at the curb but about 15ft from it. He did really good at first, pretty excited to see what was going on, then he fell asleep! He fell asleep before the band and fire trucks came by...needless to say we were very nervous as to what would happen when they did. But, they both came and went (neither was too loud by the time they got to us) and Sawyer continued to sleep!
Must be nice!
When we first got there he was so excited to see what was going on.

Too much fun makes a baby tired! |
Sleeping Beauty
Every week at church Sawyer either sleeps during the church service or on the way home...this week he slept on the way home. Look at that position! You would think it would hurt his little neck....funny thing is that mommy sleeps with her neck like that quite often, while sitting in the chair.
New Chair
We had gotten this chair on clearance last year....look how cute he is sitting in it! When we put him in the chair he sits for about 5 seconds and then plunges off the side to get out...he actually tries to tip the chair and if he can't get the one side to tip he moves to the other side....too funny!

7 Months
What? Already? Seriously? Where has the time gone? Sawyer turned 7 months old on May 17th...and I swear we were just keeping track of contractions like yesterday! Our lives have changed so much in the last 7 months that I can't remember most of it before Sawyer came along! He is amazing to us, and each and everyday we tell him how much we love him (maybe a million times or more!!)
At 7 months he is trying so hard to crawl (I'm sure he will get it pretty soon) and he certainly has mastered the roll! He rolls anyplace he needs to go, and he knows exactly the places he shouldn't be in b/c he always rolls there first! He is fascinated with going under his bouncy seat and the end table and loves to roll to the register and put his fingers inside as well as feel the cool air blow out on his face. He is really good at picking objects up and moves them from hand to hand. It's comical to watch him put something in his hand and then shake his hand up and down while holding onto it. He has learned how to wave and will wave back to us most of the time when we wave to him. He has also learned the word "fan" and when we ask him where the fan is he looks up! So cute! Sawyer is not a picky eater either! Everything we have fed him he seems to enjoy...a trait both mommy and daddy have too! We have introduced him to meats this month...he has had chicken, turkey, beef and ham as well as an array of fruits and veggies. I too have found some baby foods that I think are yummy!! Hawaiian Delight is delicious! We did have to take him to the Dr. for a reoccurring eye infection...poor thing keeps on watering and getting green/yellow gunk in it. The last time this happened the Dr. gave us medicine to try...it didn't go over so well...so this time they gave us eye drops...um yeah right! He was NOT going to let those drops near his eye...but then we learned to distract him with a new toy each night and he didn't even realize daddy was going to drop one in! We think Sawyer is beginning to teeth as well. He seems to be drooling more and constantly chewing on his bib or shirt, in addition to his normal chewing on all of his toys. Over Memorial Day weekend he ate very little solid food and drank the usual amount of milk. He has become pretty fussy and this is NOT typical behavior for him....poor guy! As for Sawyer's appearance...he seems to be gaining weight at a normal pace but continues to work on his height...lol! His hair is starting to come in (you would think he would have hair EVERYWHERE like his daddy does...but that's not the case) and at times I see a lot of light brown/blonde in it...it will be neat to see what hair color he ends up with.
The best part of my day is coming home and seeing the little toothless, gummy grin stretch across that beautiful face of his! I LOVE to hear his laugh, especially the belly laugh he does as we play with him. He has also started to use a light 'scream' when he is excited about something...soo cute I could listen to it all day!

7 Month pictures....I took a ton because he wanted to roll all around the chair. |

Or once he found the sticker he would grab at it and then chew on it. |

And ofcourse he wants the camera too! |
Mother's Day
Wow....I have a lot of updating to do! It's been a long time since I have added some pics of our sweet little boy! It just goes to show how fast our lives are going at this point...hope it slows down soon!
Mother's Day was a day I had been looking forward to...my first as a Mommy!! I truly hope I show Sawyer how much I love him and how much he means to me! He is such a blessing to Keith and I that we don't take anything for granted! My 1st Mother's Day was not all that exciting though....we spent the ENTIRE day in the truck coming back from a tournament in Lacrosse, Wisconsin. We traveled over 400 miles in one day...pulling into our driveway around 11:30pm. Sawyer travels very well....and he was great today as well! Can you imagine being in a car seat for that long (we do stop ever couple of hours to get him out to stretch, change diapers and feed etc.) He is such a trooper!
Sawyer and Daddy did not forget it was Mother's Day! Daddy brought gift to the hotel for me to open...Sawyer had a huge smile on his face as he and Daddy gave me my card. They also gave me a beautiful "Mom" necklace and $$ to buy myself something. Even though we spent the day in the truck it really doesn't matter what we did as long as we were together!!

Mmmmm Bananas!!
This weekend we introduced "real" bananas inside the mesh holder. It's cute to watch Sawyer explore this new food tool! He just held it at first so Keith took the mesh holder and showed Sawyer how it goes in the mouth....when Sawyer got it back he was squishing the banana out of the mesh and the juice was dripping off and down his hand. He started to lick that and his mouth was really moving at that point....it wasn't long and he started putting the mesh into his mouth and figuring out how this whole process works. Day 2 of this new treat and he was going to town....and I LOVE his sound effects while eating...I wish I could put them here too!

What's this....a toy? |

Hmmmm....not sure about it yet! |

Pillow Barricade
Being "stuck" in a hotel room all weekend after our jobs are done each day, is kinda hard with a little one who loves to roll around and play on the floor. We don't let Sawyer roll around on hotel floors so we have introduced him to the pack and play and we also let him roll around on the bed (supervised ofcourse). The hardest part about the hotel is trying to make Sawyer feel as comfortable and in a "home" like setting as we can. Many times he wakes up at different times than he is used too...thus having to improvise. On Saturday was one of those days...he woke early and I didn't have anywhere to lay him b/c the pack and play was not set up and my mother in law was still sleeping so she couldn't hold him. So, improvise I did....I made a pillow barricade and laid him on the bed (although I was super nervous to lay him on the bed) and within minutes he was sound asleep!! It was so sweet!!

He was playing around when I first laid him down. |

After a little while he grabbed his blanket and started sucking on part of it...something he does to anything he can get a hold of! |

Getting so sleepy...... |

And he's out! |
Traveling Man
We had our second tournament this past weekend in Belefontaine, Ohio and I remembered to take some pictures of ALL the stuff we traveled with....though I must admit it was smaller this time than our first time out. Maybe we are starting to get the hang of it, or maybe because it was a close one we just didn't need as much. This weekend we travel to Wisconsin.....I can only imagine how much stuff we will take!
![]() |
We bring the swing so that Sawyer feels a little like he is at home |
![]() |
We pretty much just have totes designated for everything....food, clothes. mommy's things, daddy's things etc. |
![]() |
It becomes a cluttered mess in no time...drives me CrAzY!! |
![]() |
We even have to store things on top of the closet... |
![]() |
I have to use the "fancy" hotel chairs to set up my nightly pumping stations...I think I need to bring a sheet to cover these nasty chairs! |
![]() |
Ofcourse we bring his bottle warmer...but we don't bring any milk from home....we use what I pump all weekend. |

And there are always lots of dishes to wash...we have plastic tubs and the bottle brush too. |

Horsen' Around
I hope we are onto something really good with Sawyer....it seems that he is not afraid of animals...and that includes big animals! When we take Sawyer on his stroller rides around the houses we always stop at Huck's pen...and of course Huck LOVES the company! Huck will jump and bark with excitement and Sawyer thinks it's hilarious!! I would think a baby is scared by a loud, barking dog but so far so good!
This week our niece Maggie had to give her senior presentation for VoAg at Clay and we went to watch. She will be going to The Ohio State University majoring in Veterinary Medicine...her senior project was the muscle and skeleton structure of a horse. She painted the skeleton structure on her horse and brought "Levi" as part of her project. While Levi was in the trailer we would take Sawyer close by to visit...needless to say Daddy was a little worried if I had him too close! Anyways, every time Levi would move and grab some hay to eat Sawyer would think it was funny and sit there and laugh! At one point Levi even jumped a little and kicked bucked the part of the trailer holding his food...and again Sawyer just laughed! I sure hope Sawyer continues to enjoy these animals.....just wait until he gets to see the cows and pigs up close at Grandpa and Grandma's house!

You can see the smile on his face!! Pure joy!! |
